💳 **Nothing is taken when you book.** Your card is verified and saved. The first charge happens when the supplier accepts your booking, and the balance is charged 7 days before your event.

Booking catering for an event is a bigger commitment than most online purchases, so it is fair to want to know exactly when money leaves your account. This article walks through every step, from the moment you place the booking to the day the supplier is paid.

Your agreement is with the supplier, but the payment goes through Nuento. We hold the payment and release it to the supplier after your event has taken place. That is what makes it possible to refund you in full if the supplier cancels or does not deliver, and it is why a supplier should never ask you to pay them directly.

Nothing has been charged, so there is nothing to refund. You will be told straight away, and our team will help you find an alternative for your date.

If a card has expired or been blocked by the time instalment 2 is due, we email you with two options: update your card and we retry the charge, or pay the amount by bank transfer using the details in the message. Please do not pay the supplier directly; a payment made outside Nuento is not registered on your order.

If a change makes the total higher, for example more guests or an extra add-on, you receive a separate invoice for the difference with a payment link. We do not charge your saved card automatically for changes; you complete that payment yourself. If a change makes the total lower, the difference is refunded, or deducted from the balance if it has not been charged yet.

You can cancel free of charge until 7 days before your event. Everything you have paid is refunded to the same card, normally within 5–10 working days. After the deadline the order is binding. Businesses pay by card in the same way. At checkout you can enter your company registration number, and we fill in the company name and address from Companies House. The field is optional, and you do not need a VAT number to book. Receipts and invoices are sent to the invoice email you give us, so your finance team gets them directly.

When are you charged, and where is your money until the event?

✅ **Free cancellation until 7 days before your event.** Cancel by then and everything you have paid is refunded. No fee, no partial refund. Until the same deadline you can also change guest numbers, menu and times.

Plans change. Guest lists grow and shrink, dates move, and sometimes an event does not happen at all. This is how a Nuento booking handles that, and what it costs you, which until the deadline is nothing.

You can cancel or change your order free of charge until 7 days before your event. The exact date is shown at checkout under "Free cancellation until", and again on your order page after you have booked.

Example: if your event is on Saturday 20 June, you can cancel or change it until Saturday 13 June.

The supplier is notified automatically and you receive a confirmation by email. Any money already charged is refunded to the same card, normally within 5–10 working days depending on your bank. If nothing has been charged yet, there is nothing to refund.

Most changes do not need a cancellation. Guest numbers, menu choices, serving time, and details about the address or access are all agreed directly with the supplier.

Open your order and use the chat to write to the supplier. Their service manager's name and phone number are also shown at the top of the order page. Standard changes such as a new guest count are adjusted on the order, so the agreement stays in writing and the price updates with it.

Book for your best estimate to secure the date, then adjust the number of guests with the supplier once you know. The supplier appreciates hearing as early as possible, but you have until the deadline.

From 7 days before your event the order is binding. By then the supplier has bought ingredients, planned staff and turned down other bookings for your date. If something serious has happened, write to us anyway. We will talk to the supplier and see what can be done, but we cannot promise a refund after the deadline.

Ask the supplier in the chat first. If they are free on the new date, the order is moved. If they are not, and you are still before the deadline, cancel the order and book another supplier for the new date. Nothing is lost.

If you changed phone number or used a different number when booking, you can move the order to your current number at <a href="/account/claim-order">nuento.co.uk/account/claim-order</a>. You need the order ID from your confirmation email and the name or email you booked with.

🧾 **"Setup and transport" is the supplier's base price for coming to you.** It is part of the total from the very first search result, not a fee added at checkout.

Open the price breakdown on any listing or at checkout and you will see two kinds of lines: a per-person price for the food, and a fixed line called "Setup and transport". On a smaller order the fixed line can be a large share of the total, which makes it look like an extra. It is not. It is how mobile catering is priced, and this article explains what it buys you.

The base price is the same whether you have 20 guests or 100. Bringing a fully equipped kitchen and a team to your address costs the supplier roughly the same either way. So on a small order it is a big share of the total, and on a large order it almost disappears.

That is why the price per person is the number to compare. In search results each supplier shows both the total and the price per person for your guest count, so you can see what the food actually costs once everything is included.

Each supplier sets a minimum spend, the smallest order that makes it worth their while to come out. If your order is below it, a small order fee is added so the minimum is met. You always see clearly when this has happened and how much it is. Adding a few more covers or an add-on often removes the fee entirely.

Each truck or trailer has its own base price, because each one travels, sets up and staffs separately. Book them as separate orders, one per supplier. If you are catering for a very large event and want help putting a line-up together, write to us before you book.

Booking a food truck, a coffee cart or a mobile bar on Nuento takes a few minutes. This guide walks through each step so you know what you will be asked, and what happens once you have pressed the button.

On the homepage, enter the postcode of your event and the date, then press Search. You see the suppliers who deliver to that postcode and are available on that date, with the full price for your number of guests, setup and transport included. Use the filters at the top to narrow down by type, for example pizza, BBQ or coffee.

Found a few you like? Click the heart to save them as favourites. When you are logged in, your favourites follow you across devices.

Open a listing and you will be asked to make some choices. The most common ones:

Not sure about something? Every supplier's page has a "Send a message" button under the About section. Ask before you book; they usually reply within 24 hours.

Click **Continue**. You will be asked for the time serving should start, the type of event and a short description so the supplier can prepare. Then the address: check the postcode and town, and add the street and any access instructions, for example where the truck can park or which gate to use.

Finally your contact details: full name, email and phone number. Your confirmation and all practical information go to the email. Your phone number is how you log in to Nuento afterwards, with a code by SMS, so make sure it can receive text messages.

Review your order and open the price breakdown if you want to see every line. Choose whether you are booking as a private individual or as a business. Businesses can enter a company registration number and we fill in the name and address from Companies House; the field is optional, and no VAT number is needed. Add the email that should receive invoices, and a purchase order number if you have one.

Enter your card details. Your card is verified and saved, and nothing is charged at this point. If your event is more than 9 days away, the first instalment is charged when the supplier accepts and the rest 7 days before your event; if it is closer, the full amount is charged at acceptance. The same page shows what comes with your booking: who you are entering the agreement with, that the payment is held until you have been served, and the date until which you can cancel for free.

Click Place booking now. Your order is sent to the supplier, who normally confirms within 24 hours. You receive an email when they do, and if they cannot take the booking you are told straight away and nothing is charged.

Log in at nuento.co.uk with your phone number and open My orders. On the order page you find the supplier's service manager and their phone number, a chat where you can agree the practical details, and the button to cancel if you need to. On the day, the supplier arrives with food, equipment and staff. Your job is to enjoy the event.
